INSIDE DEFINE MEDIA

Interview with Sophia and Celine about their apprenticeship as marketing and communications specialists

Hi you two! You have just started - what excites you about this training profession?

Sophia

I decided to do the apprenticeship because I was very interested in the job description.

Celine

The online world is made up of many different types of advertising and as a teenager in this age, it's hard to avoid advertising. I started to evaluate the advertisements I was shown, whether by design or content, and knew that this was the field I wanted to enter professionally.

How did you come across DEFINE MEDIA and what convinced you about DEFINE MEDIA as an employer?

Sophia

I became aware of DEFINE MEDIA through Stepstone. I found the name "DEFINE MEDIA" immediately appealing and when I read on, I was not only super enthusiastic about the job description, but also how warm and cordial the advertisement sounded. That made me like DEFINE right away and I simply had to apply there.

Celine

I found DEFINE MEDIA through a job offer on Google. My plan was first to research the company on the internet. The company website directly convinced me to send my application. Furthermore, I was invited to the Karlsruhe headquarters twice. That contributed a lot to my decision, because the open, bright office looks very promising and inviting. The personal interviews and the team finally convinced me of DEFINE MEDIA as an employer.

Your training takes place in not one, but two teams - Account Management and Publisher Management/Yield & Reach. What do you think of this concept?

Sophia

I particularly like the fact that I can complete the training in two teams. In my opinion, this gives you a much better insight into the company and you can see how the individual teams work together and complement each other.

Celine

The opportunity to complete my training in two teams only brings me advantages. Because the more insights I get, the more experience I can gain.

What do you like best about the training so far?

Sophia

Definitely the interpersonal contact with my colleagues and the office routine in general. I think it's just super nice when you see each other in the office in the morning and can start the day together.

Celine

What I like best so far is the diversity of the areas of responsibility.

What is part of your daily business in the respective team?

Sophia

Daily business in my team includes various meetings, such as our daily update meeting, as well as all kinds of evaluations and publisher controlling.

Celine

On a typical office day, I deal with customer support, media content creation and reporting, and attend meetings within my team. I am also responsible for all office management tasks with a small team. From event planning to ordering office supplies, my workday usually varies from day to day.

To whom would you recommend the training?

Sophia

I would recommend the training to anyone who likes to work in the office, is interested in versatile areas of marketing communication and likes to be in contact with other people, as the daily routine also includes contact with publishers.

Celine

Right now I'm in account management, which consists of 6 different team members. Here, it doesn't matter whether you're a weekend reader or prefer to turn night into day. We are all individual and complement each other.

First of all, it's important to have a good mix of creativity and an affinity for numbers. Likewise, you must not be afraid to make phone calls, because that is part of good customer contact. It follows that it is an advantage to be good with words, because communication is key in marketing.

You convinced us of you at the interview and on the application day - do you have any tips for future applicants?

Sophia

My tip to future applicants: just be yourself. It is important to be aware of your strengths and weaknesses and to be clear about how you can use the skills you have learned in your life and education in your training. And don't worry if you are nervous, that is normal and happens to everyone. The people sitting opposite you are so nice that you don't have to be nervous at all.

Celine

It's really simple: In a job interview, the best way to close is to be convinced of yourself. Because that's how you can convince your counterpart of you, even if you don't have that much experience yet. This includes a clean appearance and going into the upcoming interview with an open mind. My tip: don't pretend, but be who you are.

Thanks for the insights & your tips!
